CMA Planning work on a range of project types including this new self storage operation, located within Fish Island in East London. The site adjoins the 2012 Olympic Park, and as such, fell under the jurisdiction of the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), who act as planning authority within this area. The proposal involved changing the use of the existing building from general industrial to storage and distribution, along with associated minor works to the access, parking and delivery areas and to the landscaping. In order to secure approval for the scheme, CMA dealt with a range of issues including the actual use of the premises, planning policy position, customer volumes and traffic generation, servicing and access arrangements, noise to neighbouring properties, arranging extended access hours for customers and signage for the operation. Following discussions and negotiations, CMA Planning secured planning permission from the ODA in August 2008.
